Violin learners and especially those
aspiring to become accomplished solo violinists usually look forward to
mastering the classic and legendary masters like Paganini and Bach. Mastering
these classical items gives them the ideal platform for the learners to embark
on creative violin playing. For instance; the 24 caprices for solo violin
created by Nicolo Paganini during 1802-17 and known as the Paganini Caprices
are the inspiration for the violin learners across the globe.
Bach Sonatas and Partitas |
Features of Paganini Caprices
The 24 Caprices of Nicolo Paganini
known popularly as the Paganini Caprices were created in three batches
of six, six, and twelve for the solo violinists. Originally created during the
early 19th century they were republished in 1982 in a consolidated
form. The caprices are in form of etudes and each of them explores different
skills with some depicting fast switching of positions while others depicting
double stopped trills. These caprices were designed for violin as well as
guitar.
Features of Bach Sonatas and Partitas
Sonatas and Partitas were created for
solo violin players and were a set of six that was initiated during the year
1703 and was completed in the year 1720. However, the Bach Sonatas andPartitas were published only after 50 years of the death of Bach. Each of the
sonatas consists of four movements and the structure is the typical
slow-fast-slow-fast structure. The partitas are unorthodox and use the usual
baroque dance mixture with Allemande, Gigue, Sarabande, and Courante to which
Bach added new elements also.
Whether it is the caprices by
Paganini or sonata and partitas by Bach, a well organized online violin course
offers everything for the learner.
